Chateau Julien Wine Estate

Description : In the late 1970's, Bob and Patty Brower set out to fulfill their dream. Originally from the East Coast, they had a passion for wine and admired the French hospitality encountered while traveling in Europe. They saw the potential in Monterey County as a quality wine growing region, and in 1982 began building what is now known as Château Julien Wine Estate in Carmel Valley, California.

Description : This inviting, three-story landmark is located across from historic Colton Hall in the heart of Old Monterey. The Museum features eight galleries devoted to exhibitions of American and early California painting, photography and contemporary art. An art reference library offers a quiet space to read and research anytime the Museum is open. A gift shop includes creative and unusual cards, jewelry and a fine selection of books about your favorite period of art or artist and more. Wheelchair access is available at the sculpture park entrance located between Pacific and Calle Principal Streets.

Steinbeck's Spirit of Monterey Wax Museum

Description : This unique museum is home to over 100 wax figures, which were actually imported from London and Paris. The life-sized figures are posed in scenes from over 450 years of Monterey history. Get an inside glimpse of workers in a busy cannery, see what an early Mexican fiesta was like, walk alongside members of an original Native American tribe, or mingle with author John Steinbeck at one of his favorite local hangouts--there are many scenes to take in here at the museum. In addition to the detailed decorations and amazing wax models, the scenes also include various special effects and animation, making the characters really come alive.
