About King City

The town of King City California is a Mecca for vacationers the world over. The town got its name from the pioneer Charles H. King, a New Yorker, who purchased 13,000 acres of a Spanish land-grant, and founded the first settlement here. After introducing wheat to the Salinas Valley area of central California, the success of that initial crop prompted many other settlers into the area, allowing the railroad to take notice. Southern Pacific Railroad Lines referred to the station in Salinas Valley as King Station. This started the process of the town’s infrastructure, and the borders of King City California, to be constructed in the late 1800’s. A trip to King City California will have to include a visit to Los Padres National Forest to see what nature is really all about!

King City, California is located on the famous Highway 101, as well as the most widely traveled main line of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Everything was contingent upon the railroads in the past and during the 1800’s and early 1900’s, the railroad was a big part of the growth. King City, California, 155 miles south of San Francisco and 275 miles north of Los Angeles, is in a perfect location demographically and socially. This makes for a great and easily-accessible family vacation and one that will be recalled for a lifetime. The best aspect of a family vacation to Kingsley California is the cost as this is one the most moderately priced family vacation destinations in all of California!

Situated along the coast of the Pacific Ocean, King City California is a fantastic place to do some great fishing or just collect shells along the sandy shore. With a magical and almost mystical forest region, only a few miles away from the seashore, this central California travel destination combines the best of both a camping experience and a seaside community. With a gentle climate and a varied topography, King City California and southern Monterey County in general, offers year-round recreation and vacation experiences for the entire family.
